Water is the source of life, is a precious natural resources for the survival anddevelopment of all life forms, is an irreplaceable resource, it plays an important role inpeople’s lives and production activities. City water supply system, is an importantinfrastructure of city construction and development, is to protect the material basis forpeople’s life and economic development is one of their dispensable, an area of lifelineengineering. The pipe network investment often accounted for a total investment ofwater supply system project of60%to80%, and every year have invested huge amountof operating costs and repair costs. Therefore, the system of water distribution networklayout is very important.At present, most of China’s city pipe network has reached the design life, after along time of use, the pipeline has produced unsafe factors, external wall in long timecorrosion under thin wall, the pressure drop; long time contact with water foulingcaused by the actual diameter becomes small. All of these will affect the safety andreliability of water supply system. At the same time, early construction pipeline lack ofunified planning, in addition, each network reconstruction in, but the lack of an overallplanning, which causes some of the pipe is not appropriate, may form a high pressurearea, local. With the continuous increase in the consumption of water, low pressure areaexpands unceasingly, water supply safety reduce. Due to the above problems, beimperative pipe network transformation.Based on the investigation and Analysis on the present situation of deep water in Loess Hilly Region of Northern Shanxi and the main problems to make more detailedunderstanding, pointed out that compared with other areas in the region characteristic ofwater supply planning, puts forward the key problems in design of water supply systemin the area. And in Shenmu county as an example to analyze the water supply plan,provide a reference for the transformation of old urban water supply problems in Hillyand gully region of northern Shanxi.
