In recent years, as China’s sustained economic development andexpanding manufacturing production scale, the electricity demand ofresidents and enterprises is increasing rapidly. Then, many large coal-firedgenerating units are new built. The amount of social power load has largerfluctuations in different time periods, the coal using of thermal power plantsvary widely at different times, what’s more, there are quality differencesamong different kinds of coal, it is need to make the control and managementprocess more precise and intelligent for coal conveying, then it requires adiverse, flexible operation mode for coal conveying control system, in orderthat the coal conveying system could be controlled stably, reliably andaccurately in different site conditions. For this reason, using traditionalsemi-automatic coal conveying system, which is controlled by relay contactorand manual operation, can’t meet the needs of modern power plant. Therefore,it is an urgent need of thermal power plants to have a high efficient coal conveying control system, which bases on PLC and fuzzy control technology,and it has a great significance for improving the whole industry’s productionefficiency.This article introduces a coal conveying system composed by PLC andPC, which is researched and developed as the background of GuohuaZhunGeer power plant practical production situation. It presents systemhardware and software, and focuses on design method of fuzzy controller.For the time variability, hysteretic and other features of coal conveyingsystem, a parameter self-tuning Fuzzy-PID method is proposed innovatively,and compared with the conventional PID control in simulation research, thecompare simulation result shows the parameters self-tuning Fuzzy-PID hassmall steady-state error, quick dynamic response, low overshoot and otheradvantages, and it is well-adjusted with the parameter changes of the objectfeatures, and it could meet the controlling requirements. The parameterself-tuning Fuzzy-PID control program not only greatly improve the controlprecision and automation level, but also reduce the workload and dailymaintenance costs of coal conveying system, it has a very important value forengineering application.
