Design Research On Bathing Space In Elderly Facilities

Bathing space is important part of elderly facilities.As people get harder tocomplete activities of bathing with age growing, public bathing space is needed to giveeffective assistance.In the background of the aging society, China has great demand ofelderly facilities. Concept of user-friendly design requires more specific work. So it isnecessary to research on design of bathing space to make it more suitable for users so asto develop overall living standard.Through some methods like field research、questionnaire survey、research withdesign, this article finish the following work.Firstly, it sums up the developing process and current usage of bathing space ofeldly facilities in our country, as with the significance of setting up public bathing spaceand common problems in architectural design.Secondly, it analyzes of the developing trends of bathing spacein advancedcountries like Japan, and the United States. It concludes typical features and advanceddesign methods.Thirdly, it concludes the bathing activity features and space demand of elderlypeople of different physical and mental conditions, as with the assistace acticity featuresand space demand of care professionals, which is the foundation of the design research.Forthly, this article explores design response of bathing space about classification,design principles,function compositions, spatial organisations and detail guidelineswhich is suitable for elderly facilities in China.In conclusion, some design project cases are given for reference to explain how tomake the research results into practice.
