Earthquake disasters can bring serious threat to people’s life and property. Earthquakecannot be predictable and has brought heavy losses to human beings. To MitigateEarthquake disaster should be based on prevention and improve the seismicperformance of engineering structure. Therefore, how to mitigate earthquake damageis a valuable and important research project for engineers. Quay cranes play animportant role in modern harbors, most of which are located in seismic zone, soanti-seismic research of port cranes is of great significance.In this paper, a gantry crane is selected as an analysis object. Different methods areused to analysis the seismic behaviors of the crane under different working conditionsand seismic load through numerical simulation. The detailed research and mainconclusions in this dissertation are summarized as follows:(1) Firstly, use static method to analyze the seismic effect of the gantry crane, findthe maximum displacement and stress of the crane metal structure, and analyze itsstability. Static analysis results showed that: gantry cranes can withstand s7degreerare earthquake.(2) Carry out modal analysis of gantry crane to obtain the indispensible modalfrequency for response spectrum analysis of the crane. Introduce the theory ofresponse spectrum analysis and its implementation in ANSYS, and carry out theresponse spectrum analysis of gantry crane. It can be found that the stress anddisplacement results of response spectrum analysis are lower than that of staticanalysis.(3)Select the typical strong motion acceleration records of the past and artificialearthquake acceleration records, whose amplitudes have been adjusted to0.22g.Carry out time-history analysis of the gantry crane, and calculate the correspondingseismic response of dangerous sections. The results demonstrate that: the seismicresponse of gantry crane vary widely, though the maximum acceleration amplitudesof these records are the same. Besides amplitudes, the spectrum of seismic wave and its duration also affect the seismic response. Final analysis results showed that: gantrycranes can withstand s7degree rare earthquake.(4)Select the appropriate gantry crane seismic isolation device and determine therelated isolation parameters. The dynamic characteristics and seismic responses of thecrane with and without isolation system are researched by finite element analysissoftware ANSYS. The comparison results show that significant reduction in theseismic response amplitude can be seen for the structure with the isolation system.The isolation device works well.
