The flow characteristics of pneumatic components are an important technicalindicator. Accurate understandings of the flow characteristics of pneumaticcomponents have important significance for designing pneumatic control system.Pneumatic components are based on one or more basic modules. It can fully andaccurately grasp the changes of pneumatic components flow characteristicsparameters that research and analysis the flow characteristics of basic module andin-depth understand its work mechanism, which has important practical significancefor pneumatic technology development and researching.Pneumatic components orifice is a common basic module, and now there is lessresearch in pressure field, so this paper is to support an international cooperationproject, and the subject is fixed orifice. It based on the theory of flow characteristics,combining with international standards test method ISO6358, using a combination oftheoretical and experimental studies and comparing simulation software to design theexperimental method for fixed orifice’s flow characteristics, and analyzes therelationship between the structural parameters of fixed orifice and its flowcharacteristics parameters. The main works of this paper are summarized as followed:(1) Analysis of current research situation of orifice and pneumatic componentsflow characteristics, determine the research direction and thinking for the test systemdesign and numerical simulation of flow field.(2) Analysis and research of the fixed orifice flow characteristics. First analyzesthe basic theory of fixed orifice flow characteristics, and describes several commontraffic characterization parameters and representation. Then According to thestructural characteristics of the fixed orifice, select the appropriate representation andtesting standard of the flow characteristics, and provide the basis for the design of thetest system. Finally, analyze the parameters calculation formula of flow characteristicsand deduce the relationship between the structural parameters of fixed orifice and itsflow characteristics parameters.(3) Simulation analyze the fixed orifice’s flow characteristics, established modelis of grid partition by ICEM CFD, and import it to Fluent for simulation. Verify thecorrectness of the modeling and simulation by comparing theoretical analysis andsimulation results. Then comprehensively in-depth analyze the relationship betweenthe structural parameters of fixed orifice and its flow characteristics parameters. (4) Researching the Experimental of fixed orifice, test system has beendesigned according to the selected test standard, and according to the experimentalresults, improves the operational processes. Finally, the experimental results,simulation and theoretical analysis are compared to verify the feasibility ofexperimental methods and analyze the causes of data errors. The relationship betweenthe structural parameters of fixed orifice and its flow characteristics parameters wereobtained by data-fitting.The paper presents the simulation analysis and experimental methods of fixedorifice’s flow characteristics and the methods have theoretical significance andapplication value for the study of fixed orifice.
