Research On The Issues Of Space And Architecture Constructions In Old City Renewal

Old cities are witnesses of urban development history and are also carriers ofurban historic culture and human civilization. At the current urban developmentstage in our country, the renewal and development of old cities are also importantissues in reconstruction of urban functions. In nowadays, value of old cities isapproved generally, and obvious differences exist in value affirmation and protection&development manners of old cities in varied areas.Up to this day，the renewal of old cities has been developed to a small-scaleprogressive micro cycle from the big-scale rectification with "non-discretionaryimplementation” gradually. Issues which were neglected in old cities, such as aspecific social structure formed in old cities for a long term, have become focalpoints under discussion of various p^ies at present.An old city of Tangyin selected as the research object in this paper is an urbanarea with relatively complicated current conditions&functions and spatialcharacteristics. Tangyin is located in the north of HenanProvince助id the old city isfamous for Yue Fei’s native place. With rapid urban development，the Tangyinoldcity is faced with impact in spatial patterns, architectural style&features andcultural value. Different from the situations in old cities with dense cultural factorsand historical sites in metropolises, cultural resources in Tangyin are relativelylimited. Under this background, it is a relatively huge kind of engineering to realizefeature protection and renewal of functions&quality of the old city. Plmners canobtain optimum effects in the old city renewal only by starting the renewal from theperspective of residents and other users，using eiffcient communicative&administrative strategies and balancing interests of various parties with joint effortsof the government and the mass.Based on learnings of theories related to old city renewalas well as thetransformation&construction of homes, the research of relevant cases and incombination with practice in old city renewal in Tmgyin，the paper analyzes issuesabout current situations of places and conducts planning&design exploration ofspatial and architectural construction issues in old cities, in order to form thetechnical guidance aiming at architectural design and public space construction in old city renewal. The paper proposes the renewal strategies for houses built byresidents under govenrmental guidance. On this basis, the paper also discusses thearchitectural design and public space design of old cities in its construction, as wellas the problems existing in project implementation.
