Research On The Development Of Apartment Unit Plans In South Korea

Apartment housing in Korea saw great development ever since1958. After about50years of development history, this type of residential living has become themainstream in Korean cities. The present study presents the development of Korea’sapartment housing and explores the effects of the geography, climate, socio-economicdevelopment, demographic changes, the key policy changes on this type of residentialunits, And hoping through this reaserch can helping development of apartment housingand unit plans in China.This study mainly focuses on the process of evolution of apartment housing inlarge cities in Korea, and presents results of field surveys in the Gang-nam area in Seoul.This thesis is structured as follows:The first summarizes the history of apartment housing in Korea. This sectionincludes the introduction of apartment housing from the time before the Japanesecolonial era and after the war in Korea. It also analyzes the apartment plan of the earlyyears of the apartment housing era field studied here.Secondly, this study presents the analysis of the effects of the geography, climateand daylight analysis on the apartment housing unit plan. It also generalize thatApartment housing unit plans in Korea how to succeed to the traditional Koreanhousing.Then, this study comprehensively deals with the impact of socio-economicdevelopment of Korean on the apartment housing unit plan. Thus, this study focuses on:the effect of urbanization on the shape of apartment housing buildings, planningmethods, and unit plan designs; and the effect of demographic changes on theApartment unit plans.Furthermore, this thesis also focuses on housing policy research as it analyzes fourimportant housing policies: Supply of Apartment housing policy and purchasing controlof residential apartment housing sale prices, Inner-citi redevelopment, and the Changeof the Calculation of the areas on the unit plans.Finally, By means of compare with the process of evolution of apartment housingbetween China and Korea, research some main differences of the unit plan methods inChina and Korea. It also attempt to realization of Korean unit plan methods in the small and medium size apartment, and variable unit plans in China. Hoping through thisresearch can help understanding Apartment housing unit plan in Korea and developmentof apartment housing unit plans in China.
