As the rapid development of automobile industry and the continuous improvementof household living, automobile is no longer just a substitute vehicle for walking; ittends to be more personalized and diverse. However, the tradition ways of massproduction can no longer catch up with user’s changing needs. Therefore we need tocome up with new ways and concepts of automobile design and manufacture.Additionally, the booming automobile industry leads to the increasing needs forgasoline consumption. The byproducts of the traditional automobile manufactureimpose a severe threat to the environment. The domestic and international communitieshave taken certain emergency measures to tackle the issues above Unfortunately, nosignificant effect was observed. Therefore it’s high time that new energy vehicle shouldbe developed to replace the traditional automobiles powered by gasoline.This paper aims at developing a series of methodology and solution for themodular design of electric transportation vehicles and further exploring a sustainabletransportation tool that can meet user’s needs. This paper starts with an introduction ofpresent automobile industry. In this part, the author indicates that electric vehicle will bethe main trend of transportation in certain future. Furthermore, basing on the analysis ofuser needs and the features and advantages of electric transportation vehicle, the paperargues the necessity and feasibility of modular design of electric transportation vehicle.The next part discusses the detailed implementation procedures of modular design,. Thelast part of the paper aims at validating the methodology by carrying out the design anddrawing a solution for modular design of transportation vehicle.During the research process, the author acquired many creditable materials andpractical basis by on-site visit and research at electric car manufacture factory,dismantle and assemble the electric car,and cooperate across departments.The main research conclusions drawn from this paper include:Electric vehicle will be the main trend of transportation in certain future; modulardesign concept used in the automobile industry can provide users personalized anddiversity travel choice.The main research achievements of this paper include: 1.Came up with the concept of modular design of electric transportation vehicle.2.Conducted in-depth analysis and research on modular design theories and thedevelopment of transportation tools.3.Proposed a methodology that fits the modular design of transportation vehicle, anddesigned a transportation vehicle which offers personalized and diversified options tousers based on it.
