With the rapid development of China’s economy, the continuous expansion of city, the increasing of population, urbanization development really fast, in the current social background, the phenomenon of large there is a widespread traffic-clogged city, traffic congestion is not only a social problem, has gradually become a political problem. In order to relieve traffic congestion phenomenon, more detailed understanding of the sustainable development of urban traffic levels, so as to promote the urban sustainable development, through the comprehensive level of urban traffic evaluation, analysis of the results, can accurately urban planning for the future, in order to relieve traffic congestion. To our country urban traffic index, research theory and method for the evaluation of urban traffic in China provide a good reference.Through analysis of related literature at home and abroad, introduces the research status of global urbanization, analyses factors that affect the sustainable development of regional traffic, summarizing the research achievements of existing traffic index, analysis of different index model calculation characteristics and applicable scope, comprehensive evaluation method, based on the principle of evaluation index selection, using the analytic hierarchy process (ahp) from the system of policy and planning, public traffic, traffic network overall construction level, quality of transport network layout, traffic network accessibility, economic level index, degree of modernization of traffic management and traffic safety situation of the eight aspects,33select associated with traffic comprehensive evaluation index as the basis of evaluate urban region traffic status, combining with the data,comprehensive evaluation of dalian city traffic system.Regional traffic global urbanization development index is determined, by selecting the correct evaluation method, set up regional traffic sustainable development level of evaluation system, can be applied to other cities,regional transportation comprehensive evaluation, based on the dalian area traffic comprehensive evaluation, the evaluation results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the evaluation system of the dalian regional integrated transportation status to general, according to the evaluation results, global urbanization way of regional transportation development and Suggestions.
