From the perspective of the tourists, buying the souvenirs is an indispensable part oftheir tourist activities, and it can also fulfill their material and spiritual needs. In terms of thetourism scenic spots, the souvenirs can not only bring economic benefits, but also have somepublicity functions, consequently, promote the development of the tourist industry. Hence, thedevelopment and design of the souvenirs is receiving more and more attention.Every scenic spot has its own unique truism culture.“The Mount Lianhua Tourist Resortof Xintai, Shandong” is a rising Buddhist Culture tourist resort in the support of Xintaitourism administration on the theme of “The world of Lotus”. It has been developing rapidlyduring recent years. However, its development in the aspect of souvenirs about BuddhistCulture is relatively weak.Therefore, using the issue as the starting point, we carried out someexploratory researches. We attempted to find out the style design methods appropriate to theBuddhist culture tourism souvenirs. We would also offer certain design approaches for itsdevelopment and design with important practical significance.In the guidance of the knowledge in basic subjects and some other relevant ones,through on-the-spot investigations and market surveys, with reference to the successful casesat home and broad, the author drew the conclusion that the series of problems in thedevelopment of the tourism souvenirs resulted from two majors reasons ultimately, the onewas lacking of originality and the other was ignoring the cultural connotation. And theyshould be treated as the key issues that had great influence on the development of the tourismsouvenirs.Thus, this project took the solutions of the two major issues as the study objectives.In the terms of practical work, its concept, characteristics and categories, the developmentstatus of the tourism souvenirs at home and abroad as well, were studied in a deeper degree.And the experience was gathered during the study process. Next, we leaned about thedevelopment status and market requirements of the tourism souvenirs in Mount Lianhua. Thedevelopment trends of the souvenirs were analyzed, and the thoughts of the development anddesign were clarified at the same time.At last, for the demand of the market requirements, inthe criteria of possessing originality, in the method of artistic expression, in the guidance of the human-centered approach and the sustainable development view, the author constitutedthe design approaches with reference and guiding values, which were made up with threeparts: the modeling methods, the materials and the color assortment.The two major issues were resolved successfully through the design and researches inthe present project. It is hoped that the study may give some positive effect in the publicity ofthe tourism culture and the economic development in Mount Lianhua. It is also expected thatsome valuable materials can be provided for the subsequent researches.
