Strategic Study On The Shaping Of Water City Characteristics In River System Regions In The South Of The Yangtze River

In the South of the Yangtze River, waterside cities develop and flourish because of water system. During the long period when such cities get along with natural environment, they have developed unique culture, spatial form and lifestyle peculiar to waterside cities, thus becoming the cities with the most remarkable characteristics in China. However, nowadays, along with globalization and rapid urbanization, various waterside cities in the South of the Yangtze River face the risk of losing waterside city characteristics. Based on basic theory study, this paper analyzes the waterside city characteristics in the South of the Yangtze River, studies the approach to shaping waterside city characteristics from the perspective of urban characteristic elements, and makes a practical analysis on Suzhou. Nowadays, urban space increasingly expands, which provides a reference for inheriting and reshaping new waterside city characteristics in the south of the Yangtze River.The paper contains six parts. The introduction part illustrates the project selection background and significance, research scope and definition of related concepts, domestic and foreign research overview and research methods. Chapter II is the basic research of water city characteristics in the southern water network regions, first interprets the urban characteristics, according to the particularities of southern water network regions, summarizes the connotation and constituent elements of the water city characteristics, and concludes the relevant theoretical studies as the theoretical basis. Chapter HI has a brief introduction of the development and changes of water city in the southern water network regions, mainly analyzes the main distinctive characteristics of water city in the traditional southern water network regions as well as the current situation of water city characteristics recession in southern water network regions, sums up the reasons for water city characteristics recession, and gets the corresponding enlightenment. Chapter IV proposes the shaping target and concepts of water city characteristics in the southern water network regions, describes the principles of water city characteristics shaping, carries out the countermeasures research on water city characteristics shaping from the perspectives of the natural environment, artificial environment, society and human and the corresponding management measures. Chapter V takes Suzhou as the case to carry out the case study, understands the situation of Suzhou water city, studies the shaping of ancient city district——ring ancient city water city characteristics and the industrial park——ring Jinji Lake water city characteristics, and proposes different treatment methods for the old town and new town at the operational level. The conclusion part summarizes the major conclusions as well as the problems and future prospect of the research process.
