China is one of the countries which use the largest electric power in the world,and most of the power are used for motor and electric smelting, electric heating,electrolytic etc.. When the high-voltage electrical apparatus start or run,they willinfluence the power system.At the same time, the impact on the power grid and thereactive power loss will cause the grid’s voltage sharp fluctuation. Static typedynamic wattless power compensation device (SVC), is to alleviate this situation, isto reduce the loss, effective means to improve the stability of the system network.Traditional SVC usually uses electronically controlled thyristor (ETT), in contrast,light triggered thyristor (LTT) is a direct light triggered and built-in BOD protectionand other advantages, greatly improves the accuracy and reliability of the electriccontrol thyristor, complex structure, short transmission distance, antielectromagnetic interference ability of dry low. Using the technology of LTT66kVdirectly to the SVC operation is stable and reliable, fast response speed, improve thequality of power supply of66kV bus, and a redundant hot standby function, greatlyreduces the possibility of system failure outage. At the same time66000volts directhanging SVC is currently the world SVC straight hanging the highest voltage level,has broad prospects in its application, also has an important significance for thenational grid and the European69kV network.This paper introduces thyristor (LTT) technology based on the technicalfeatures of66kV straight hanging SVC, comparing with the traditional SVC accessmode, the LTT technology based on SVC66kV hung superiority; at the same time,in-depth analysis of the East Anshan220kV substation in Anshan city of LiaoningProvince, the lack of reactive power, technical Scheme Research on SVC device, theSVC operation, the impact to the Anshan area power grid and the benefit.
