With the large consumption of conventional energy and the increasingly seriouspollution of the environment, nuclear power has a great development in the world. Thesteam generator, which is one of the key equipment of PWR power plant, is the hingecable of primary side and secondary side. However, the tube rupture accident of thesteam generator plays a primary role in nuclear power plant accident. So steam generatoris also an important research subject for the current development of nuclear power.The modeling and simulation of a typical900MW PWR steam generator in Chinawas focused on in this paper. By the operating characteristics and the thermodynamicproperties of the steam generator, establish a general mathematical model. Amathematical model was converted into process algorithm by using Fortran language asdevelopment tools. According to the structure and process of the overall system, acomplete, interactive and operable system model was set up as a result of the connectionof various modules basing on Integrated Modular Modeling System (IMMS). In thispaper, the steam generator can be divided into six parts and11modules. These six partsare primary side, secondary side, U-tube metal, annular region, feed water and steamchamber. The temperature of the fluids in primary water、U-tube metal、secondary side、annular region and feed water were mainly calculated, as well as the pressure in steamchamber, the dryness of vapor-liquid two-phase flow and water level.The operating characteristics of the steam generator are studied with the finishedsimulation model. The static simulation of the steam generator is obtained in accordancewith the structural parameters and the initial boundary conditions. At this time, the curvescorresponding to the change of the temperature of fluid in all parts of the steam generator,water level, the pressure in the steam chamber and the dryness are generated by changingthe temperature of primary water, the flow of feed water and the temperature of feedwater. The analysis of these curves shows the rationality of the simulation model. Thismodel is also reference for system optimization, design and operation of the steamgenerator.
