Steam generator is an important equipment of nuclear power plant, and the hinge that connects the primary and the second loop, its normal operation is critical to the safe and economical operation of nuclear power stations. In this paper, the vertical U-tube natural circulation steam generator in nuclear power plant was mainly researched with modeling and simulation. It introduces the steam generator configuration characteristic and operation principle; by using the modular modeling method, there are14control nodes in the model, including primary side, down comer region, supercooled region, boiling region, water separator region and steam region on secondary side. Then, using the mass conservation equation, energy conservation equation, flow equation and heat transfer equation, the paper deals with mechanism modeling for the control nodes, the real-time simulation models is built, included primary side single-phase flow, down comer region, supercooled region, boiling region model, water separator region model and steam region model of secondary model. The corresponding modules are developed by C++according to the established mathematic model According to the operation process of the steam generator, the corresponding modules are established by calling the control nodes algorithm in the algorithm library. The U-tube steam generator’s real-time simulation model for the pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant is also built with the method of module lap joint, connecting variable names of each module process parameters. By using the U-tube steam generator simulation model founded in the paper, the static and dynamic simulation experiments for the Daya Bay nuclear power plant are made. Simulation results show that the real-time simulation model could properly simulate the effect on other parameters owing to the changing of the major parameters of the steam generator. What’s more, it also shows that the modular simulation model is not only conducive to the modeling and debugging of large-scale systems simulation models, but also benefit to the accumulation and utilization of the modeling knowledge, and create a favorable condition to the extension and improving of the model.
