Research On The Visual Environment Landscape Design Of Harbin Daowai Mosque

Vision is the primary means of perceiving the space, through which people can perceive surroundings and then form different psychological feelings, such as, like or dislike. So people pay more and more attention to creating a good visual environment. Urban visual landscape emphasizes the dominant role of vision in the experience of the urban landscape. Visual experience can tell us the spatial distance, volume, space and directions. Environmental patterns which are dominated by visual landscape can cause a psychological reaction in people. Religious buildings constitute an important part of the urban landscape style of Harbin, which plays a significant role in reinforcing Harbin’s historical and cultural characteristics. To achieve the perfect combination between local culture and its architectural environment and to renew the memory and city pulse in Harbin as well as to promote its healthy development, we should protect the religious architecture from the aspect of planning and make organically use of the surrounding landscape environment to shape the urban sites with unique cultural charm.In this paper, Harbin Daowai Mosque whose visual environment of its exterior space is taken as the studying object is chosen. Typical case analysis is also applied as the research approach combined with analysis of physical space and psychological behavior. Based on the analysis of the relationship between its constituent elements and visual elements, we manage to identify the organizational principles and design patterns of spatial elements of the outer scene. Detailed analysis lies on the elements of visual environment landscape, such as visual scenes, visual horizons and visual experiences, and meanwhile the problems of the status quo are pointed out. According to the research on the overall layout of the mosque, and the relationship between the square graphics and square background, as well as the spatial organization and design dimensions of the visual environment, this paper places stress on the design of visual surface and corridors in the mosque. This paper is intended to research on the visual environmental landscape design of Harbin mosque through vision and the method of sight light analysis, which hopes to provide reference for how to protect historic buildings and update the landscape design of their outer environment.
