The study of urban spatial structure in Nanning and its driving mechanismbefore1990mainly refered to historical literature data and used qualitative analysismethod, while the study of urban spatial structure in Nanning and its drivingmechanism from1990to2010maily adopted factor analysis and cluster analysis. Themain conclusions are as follows:Before1950, Nanning developed very slowly because of war, policy and so on.The urban social space of Nanning in Song dynasty formed a patten of two businessdistricts one administrative area, and in the Republic of China, Nanning formed apattern of space, belt and point.From1950to1990, the area of Nanning was expanding rapidly, so were thebuilt-up area and population. Nanning began to develop in the form of concentriccircle, and after1978, Nanning developed quickly based on the form. Before1978,the main influencing factor was politics, while after1978, the main factor waseconomy.From1990to2010, Nanning was developing in the form of concentric circle, butthe main influencing factors were different. The study of12streets of Nanning in1990used the fourth census. From which, the paper chose59indexes and then itextracted9main factors using factor analysis and they were population density factor, science and education factor, family size factor, the third industry factor, geological mining factor, service industry factor, city development indensity factor, populationmigration factor and transportation and telecommunication industry factor. Based onthe total score of each street, it divided the12streets into four categories by usingcluster analysis, and they were ordinary citizens with a dense population zone, floating population zone, intelligentsia gathered zone, practitioners in the serviceindustry gathering zone. Social space structure presented a "kind of concentric crumb"development mode. The study of13streets of Nanning in2000used the fifth census.
