| The highway traffic system plays an extremely important role in the social life and development of domestic economy. Automobile safety has been a hot topic to be concerned by current automobile researchers. The purpose of the research on automobile safety is to keep the automobile in a safe condition and avoid traffic accidents. Both spontaneous combustion and burst of the automobile tire can lead to traffic accidents. The most effective method of avoiding the tire burst is to maintain the standard pressure and temperature inside tire. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can be used to automatically monitor the pressure and the temperature inside tire in real time. When the pressure or the temperature inside tire is abnormal, the system can alarm the driver in time. So the driver can make corresponding operation in time to prevent traffic accident. Therefore, research on the TPMS is of great significance.In this paper, the pressure and the temperature inside tire in relation to the tire burst and wear were analyzed. This paper gave an overview of the TPMS, involving its development, using, and its future. Theory, advantages and disadvantages of all kinds of TPMS were discussed. Based on the analysis and comparison of the direct TPMS and the indirect TMPS, the direct TPMS was determined to be the research goal. According to the work environment and technical requirements, the overall project was designed. The tire emitting module and the central receiving module, including the design of the peripheral circuit between the sensor MPXY8300and the micro-controller, were designed. Based on the antenna’s work environment, performance parameters, and working principle, the helical antenna was designed. The wireless application protocol data frame format was designed. Manchester Encoding was selected. Binary frequency shift keying (2FSK) was used for modulation. The software of the tire module and the mainframe module was designed. Function of the designed TPMS was tested in laboratory. The test results show that when the temperature or the pressure inside tire is abnormal, the system can alarm the driver in real time and show the fault type. Thus, the system improves the automobile safety. The test results conform to the relevant national regulations and designing requirements. Innovation of this paper to some extent is the low power consumption in the TPMS by software design and the long life of the battery in the tire module. |
