With the rapid growth of global cars’ number, intelligent transportation has beenwidely used in the traffic field. But for traffic accidents often happened on highway, so farthere isn’t a car early warning system which has been widely used. Automotive vehiclesconfiguration with the early-warning system limit in high-grade car, so we need to study akind of low cost, high safety car collision warning system. The main characteristic of thehighway traffic is large, high driving speed, so if the car has intentional and unintentionalwhile driving which made vehicle collision or stop line, and it can cause major accidents,and accident consequence is a large number of vehicle collision, the high mortality rate.Crash is the main form of accident. And timely to remind and warn drivers willsubstantially reduce the happening of the accident. So studying a kind of low cost, highsecurity and good real-time collision warning system has considerable practical value.Safety distance model on highway vehicle collision is proposed based on the aboveproblems. Safety distance model includes rear-end collision prevention model andovertaking model. In this paper, the main research content: according to the state ofvehicles on the highway, choose any two adjacent vehicles to make rear-end collisionprevention model and overtaking model; Analysis movements status of target vehicle andfollowing in the model, emergency braking process; Based on the car braking process ofthe model, we can derive the minimum safety distance when cars do not occur collisionafter two car brake; Through automobile collision prevention simulation softwaredeveloped by VS2010to make rear-end collision prevention model and overtaking modelsimulation, analysis the relationship of the minimum safety distance and the target andfollowing vehicle movement parameters; To design the rear-end collision preventionsystem, including system communication module and early warning prompt module;Because of ZigBee wireless communication network has the characteristics of largecapacity, reliable data transmission, no license wireless communication frequency, lowpower consumption, a variety of network mode, low cost, short time delay, theconfiguration and tertiary safe mode. To do some experiments for rear-end collisionprevention model, including communication experiment between ZigBee nodes, preventcollision experiment. The effectiveness of the safety distance model is verified by theexperiments.
