Rotating equipments are the most widely used equipments in modern industry, especially in electricity production. With the rapid progress of science and technology, rotating equipment is moving complex, precision and automation direction. Many domestic and foreign enterprises and universities had developed many large condition monitoring systems for rotating machinery. Due to the high cost and inconvenience for maintenance, there are still a large number of small and medium sized power plants in operation is not equipped with condition monitoring system for rotating equipment. For the needs of small and medium sized power plants, a high reliability and low price condition monitoring system for rotating equipment is designed in this paper. The system not only for the turbine generator and other major equipment, but also for the fans, pumps and other auxiliary equipment can also be effective temperature and vibration monitoring.Because monitoring equipments are numerous and scattered locations, data transmission takes a combination of wireless and wired in this paper. Wireless sensor network is using tree topology and consists of sensor nodes, routing nodes and central node. The system uses radio frequency chip to transfer the collected information to central node.Then the central node uploaded data to the monitoring computer for storage and processing in wired manner. The hardware design of this paper include component selection and circuit design of each module. Node software design includes software processes design and communication protocol development. Monitoring software design includes interface design of each module and software implementation.
