| Since the mid-1980’s, China’s company gradually increased the foreign construction contract share, and due he investor and the owner requirements using the lump-contracting mode, China’s contractors began to popularize the EPC mode. Especially after joining the WTO, after nearly30years of development, our EPC contractor, developed from the large comprehensive designing institute, has stepped the international standards in organizational structure and system functions. As a result, more and more our engineering contractors started to undertake the EPC projects, and join the engineering market competition. However, because of China’s modern project management research started relatively late, there is much weakness in the international EPC project management for our engineering company, such as weak capacity for contracting project, peer cut-throat competition, and weak claim consciousness.Based on this background, the author studied the international EPC power engineering project management, and particularity analyzed the connection and weight of the environmental factors, which has impact on the project management. Firstly, the author used qualitative method to identify the environmental factors list having influence on the international EPC power engineering project, and then the author used the analytic hierarchy process to interviewed many experts experienced in power engineering project management. As a result, the author could get many judgment matrices for different environmental factors, finally calculated the matrices to get the weight of each environmental factors. As a result of all environmental factors impacting the EPC power project in all engineering periods, there are many management risks for the contractor. Successfully, based on the weight of different project period environmental factors and all type factors, the contractor could pay more attention to the important factors, and then they could manage the project risks efficiently. Using the conclusion, the author studied one Vietnamese4×300MW thermal power plant, which was contracted by a China’s engineering company, and deeply pointed out all the problems in the project management. The author optimized the management organization structure of the project and made reasonable suggestions to improve the project management. |
