Rural power grid is a critical infrastructure related to peasants’life, agricultural production and rural prosperity. Currently in Yuncheng city of Shanxi province, the rural network is facing up to the problem of equipment aging, technological backwardness, overload and the long power supply radius in the35kV substation, which have had an impact on the power supply capacity and reliability of the grid. Therefore, it needs an upgrade for the rural power grid in Yuncheng city. The upgrading project of Yuncheng rural network must be tight, heavy, high quality required and concerned with the livelihood, so we need the modern project management theory to help scientifically manage the project schedule and guide the progress plan preparation and implementation of the whole project, to ensure the power construction project be completed with guaranteed quality on schedule.This paper studied the Linyijiaobei35kV substation project in Yuncheng city using the modern project schedule management theory. Firstly, it carried out a detailed analysis and elaboration of the project schedule management theory including the project progress plan, the network progress plan, project schedule control and project change and control; Secondly, based on the analysis of the characteristics of rural power grids and Yuncheng rural power grids upgrading project, it elaborated the special requirements of Yuncheng rural power grids upgrading project progress management from four aspects of security, economy, timeliness and sociality, and analyzed the main existing problems of Yuncheng rural power grids upgrading project management; Thirdly, it studied the expansion and double power engineering project of Linyijiaobei35kV substation with the use of project schedule management theory, compiled the network plan for the project and identify the critical path, and exercised a dynamic monitoring of the Linyijiaobei35kV substation project, adjusted the original network plan according to the impact. Finally, it summarized the substation upgrading project progress management experience from4aspects such as the good preparatory work, rational allocation of resources, reasonable schedule plan and strengthened process control, and this will provide a reference for related power construction projects in the future.
