Along with the advancement of science and technology and improvement of people’s living condition, more and more asymmetric high-rise buildings are built due to the limitation of the construction site and requirement of using function. However, under the earthquake, the structure would appear horizontal displacement as well as torsion effect. Therefore, it is extremely important to analyse the seismic performance of the irregular structure. In this paper, an actual L-shaped high-rise building with concave plane is taken as an example and its seismic performance has been studied, analysed and evaluated.First, utilizing pkpm and midas to build models respectively and performing a static elastic analysis under small earthquakes.Next, the comparison of every parameter in the computation results is made.It shows that they all meet the requirement of the standard. Then, through pushover analysis for the whole structure by midas which primarily involved in the analysis of the interstory displacement angle, the performance point and the order of plastic hinges, get the conclusion that even if the earthquake force is very big, the building won’t fall down. After that,to find out the effects of the different lateral loading patterns on the L-shape structure,a comparision is given of the four patterns, including the inverted triangular, the rectangle, real-time mode and CQC.It is discovered that the model curves of the real-time mode and CQC basically coincide with slight deviation. In the middle-upper parts of whole building structure, internal forces of the inverted triangular is biggest while for the rectangle is smallest in the lower part of the structure. So,it is suggested that using the envelope values of the two loading modes for the reinforcement design. At last,on the overall structure, this paper gives the elastic time history supplementary analysis in which the selection of seismic wave is the key factor, and the stress analysis of the floor slabs which indicates that some strengthening measures should be taken for stress concentration area of a floor slab..
