With the increasing of vehicle volume, the lack of land resource is the status ofthe metropolis, especially in Asian cities. Traditional parking area can’t meet therequirement for it because of the insufficient space utilization. Mechanical parkingsystem is an effective way to solve the parking problems of metropolis. According tothe operating principle and structure characteristics of stowed stereoscopic garage, oneof the key technologies is the vehicle carrier using in it, which is to realize the positionof the vehicle transporting. The whole uplifting vehicle carrier existing in stowedstereoscopic garage must lift vehicles off the ground completely to move, which mustovercome the whole vehicle gravity to work and consume much energy. Another kindsystem, the roller-path parking system has a complicated structure that each parkingspace needs to install carrying equipment as the way, so this kind of parking systemsneeds relatively high costs of construction. Aiming at this problem, the study for theworking principle and structure form of all kinds of vehicle carriers using in stowedstereo garages, then puts forward a new kind of carrier, which named The Single ShaftLift Trolley. The characteristic of this kind of carrier is, only to lift the rear wheel whilesteering limiting device restricting steering the front wheel of the vehicle. The vehicle iscarried by the way of push-pull motion. It can save the energy consumption and timeeffectively, and reduce the cost of operation. So it has wide prospects of application.This paper analyzes the system components, working principle and mechanicalstructure of The Single Shaft Lift Trolley and study the energy consumption oftransportation. Compared with the carrier uplifting the whole vehicle, conclusion hasbeen made that The Single Shaft Lift Trolley can save much more energies bycalculating the energy consumption. According to the characteristics of The Single ShaftLift Trolley, this paper finished the mechanical design in SolidWorks, including themechanical structure design, how to lift the vehicle rear wheel and restricting the frontwheel steering of the vehicle by using the devices, and the design of power, driving andmoving devices. Motor power demand of rear wheel lifting and horizontal moving ofthe vehicle are calculated. The dynamics model is established for the carrier withoutactuators respectively using the traditional method of mathematical modeling andADAMS rigid body dynamics analysis software. Then simulate them and analyze thesimilarities and differences using the MATLAB/Simulink software and ADAMSsoftware. Research with the simulation in the rear wheel lifting movement andhorizontal carrier movement of The Single Shaft Lift Trolley with actuator. Verify thefeasibility of The Single Shaft Lift Trolley. It is meanful for engineer design and use.
