In recent years, with the rapid development of economic society, the developmentof island city has attracted more and more attention. However, because of its specialgeographical location, the island city has a certain closure, in order to make the islandcity,s rich resources have a full play, and promote the economic development around theregion, the island-city exchanges with the outside world is becoming increasinglyimportant. But only rely on water transport and aviation can not meet the rapiddevelopment of urban and the residents travel needs of different levels,at the sametime,island city’s rich tourism resources has induced large amount of traffics. So inorder to establish communications with the outside world, as well as to promote theeconomic development of island city, some projects have been poured into island city.This resulted in the increase of traffic dramatically, and island city road network isdifficult to carry a huge amount of traffic, then congestion and other problems areappeared. For the purpose of regulating island city’s traffic to achieve a certain level ofsupply and demand balance, promoting the development of urban road network’soptimization, providing a reference for island city’s traffic development andconstruction, this thesis mainly studied on how the change of transportation structureaffects the traffic capacity of the island city.Firstly, the thesis studied on the relevant theory of traffic capacity, after the concept,characteristics and factors of traffic capacity, the major calculation methods of trafficcapacity has been analyzed, and on this basis, model of traffic capacity is establishedthrough the analysis of islands city’s traffic characteristics; Then, based on elaboratingthe concept of transportation structures,from the competition and collaboration twoaspects to analyze the affect characteristics of transportation structure, meanwhilehaving a analysis of affect factors of transportation structure separately from the internaland external, then analyzing the affect mechanism of islands city traffic demand fromthe road, rail, air and water four transportations, According to the relationship betweentransport supply and demand, the affect relationship between the traffic capacity andtransportation structure has been obtained, and accordingly the model of the impact onthe traffic capacity from the transportation structure is established. Finally, appliedtraffic capacity level as a standard, and evaluated the impact degree of traffic capacityby using attribute measure function, then provided an example of the Hainan island sea-crossing project to validate the model,and the impact degree of traffic capacity ofHainan Island is inⅢ level,what is"acceptable impact" in2030.Through the above research, the thesis has developed an suited model to describetraffic capacity for the island city,and get impact model according to the affectmechanism from transportation structure to traffic capacity,and finally based on theattribute mathematical theory,a evaluation model of the impact degree of traffic capacityis established. But in the thesis each model has more parameter,and the value is mainlyfrom experience, what is pending further study. Therefore, on this point, this study willstart further influence on the content of the relationship between the varioustransportation structures and traffic capacity of island city in detail in future studies.
