A Comparative Study On The Spatial Form Of Traditional Settlements Landscape On The East And West Coasts Of Hainan Island

The Eastern and western coastal areas of Hainan Island have excellent soil conditions and suiTable.climatic environment,so they have developed slowly as the main settlements in the immigration wave of successive dynasties.There are great similarities in the landscape spatial forms formed by the settlements in the development and evolution of the two areas.However,due to the regional differences in the topography,climate,clan culture and social economy of the traditional settlements on the two coasts,the spatial forms of the traditional settlements on the two coasts also show different regional characteristics under the materialization of these factors.At present,although the theoretical research and practical protection of the traditional settlements in the East Coast have achieved certain results,especially the successful development of the traditional settlements in the northeastern part of the East Coast as a typical representative,under the impact of the new development wave,the development and utilization of the traditional settlements have blindly followed the trend of the wrong construction ideas,obliterating the original nostalgic taste of many villages.For example,the theoretical research of traditional settlements on the west coast is relatively backward.With the economic development of the west coast area rising gradually,the construction methods of the east coast settlements are simply applied to the construction of the west coast settlements.Many traditional settlements with regional and historical characteristics have been submerged by the same rural construction without proper value consideration.Taking the traditional settlements on the East and west coasts as the research object,this paper tries to find out the spatial morphological characteristics of their respective traditional settlements by means of comparative study.This paper establishes a complete quantitative data research index system by combining plane two-dimensional quantitative method and spatial syntax,and makes a scientific and intuitive quantitative analysis of the boundary,spatial and structural forms of traditional settlements.Using this index system to quantify the sample settlements in the study area,the quantitative data are classified and compared from three levels:vertical level(north,south),horizontal level(offshore,distant sea)and overall level,and the landscape spatial morphological characteristics of traditional settlements in their respective areas are analyzed through the data indicators.Differences in morphological characteristics and their causes.The research focuses on the homogeneity of traditional settlement construction in Hainan Island,hoping to provide practical and effective suggestions for the reconstruction of regional culture in the future beautiful rural construction by quantitative and comparative studies.
