With the quick development of the economic construction nowadays, thedevelopment of transport increases in our country rapidly. So there are more and morebridges across the river. So that there are more and more accidents of ship-bridgecollision recently.But at present the regulate formula on the ship-bridge collision inmany countries almostly are made based on experience. And they have many limitationsto solve the problem of ship-bridge collision. Nonlinear finite element theory plays adistinct advantage in solving the problem of ship-bridge collision with the rapiddevelopment of computer software. We researche the problem of ship-bridge collisionon the basis of the theory of nonlinear finite element based on this background. Themain work of this article is as follows:①Existing theories on ship-bridge collision were summarized and analyzed theirown characteristics. List the current world norms regarding the impact force and someempirical formula, we can see that the terms of formula in our congtry are too simple.②Describes the use of sub-linear finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA.Study and discuss the basic theory and the key technologies about numericalsimulation. The basic theory includes equations of nonlinear finite element, finiteelement calculation hourglass control, explicit time integration and contact andcollision.③Simulate the pier crash of three groups ship at three speed respectively with thenonlinear finite element theory. Use symmetric penalty function for contact problemsand added mass method for the role of the surrounding fluid. Obtain the maximumcollision force under each ship collision. Compare the results with the nationalregulations and empirical formula. Conclude that the results of standardized in ourcountry are too small. This is detrimental to the safety of the bridge structure, and itshould be added corrected④Use the Matlab software to data fitting the nine sets of data obtained bynumerical simulation. Derive a formula to solve the collision force of ship-bridgecollision.⑤Proposed a correction factor for general code for design of highway bridges andculverts.Propose a correction formula. ⑥Protective measures and protection devices on the ship-bridge collision weresummarized. We compare the characteristics of the existing protective measures andprotective devices. Propose for future development direction of ship-bridge collision.
