In recent years, the accident of ship-bridge collision occurs frequently, and this hasbecome one of the most concerned events in our academia and the engineering. This paperon the basis of collision theory and finite element method, established the finite elementmodel of ship-bridge collision by the software of ANSYS/LS-DYNA, proposed the methodof calculating the ship-bridge collision force under the finite element simulation technology. The main works are as follows.First, overseas and domestic research status and the general calculation method weresummarized, and existing theories and methods were reviewed, some further study problemswere put forwared.Second, based on the principle of energy conservation and law of conservation ofmomentum, the finite element calculation models of ship-bridge collision were established. These models had considered effect of material nonlinearity, geometrical non-linearity,contact nonlinear and fluid medium. On the based of the bridge with different tonnage andvelocity, nine pieces of finite element simulation calculation were finished.Third, according to the internal and external mechanism of ship-bridge collision, thevariation of stress, deformation, energy and the max collision force of the ship and pier wasanalysed, some useful conclusions were acquired.Fourth, the relationship between the collision force and tonnage, the collision force andvelocity were researched and simplified formulas of the collision force were deduced. Basedon the principle of minimum mean square error, simplified formulas were obtained by fittingthe datum of maximum collision force, local average collision force and total averagecollision force. The simplified formulas were compared with norms of various countries.Fifth, the results indicated that the results of simplified formulas were smaller thanAASHTO norm and European norm, and much bigger than those of roads bridge designspecifications, but close to those of China’s railway bridge design specifications,...
