Power industry as a pillar industry of the country, has been sustained and stable development. As the national economy improved, the domestic power industry have seen an unprecedented growth prospects, the demand for power resources has been rapidly growing. With the constant expansion of the power grid, the reliability of the power grid also put forward higher requirements, distribution as one of the key link of power grid, the number of devices and the rapidly increasing amount of transaction and operation becomes more complicated. In this case, the power companies face with big problem that ensuring continuous and stable operation of the power grid and reliability of power supply. According to industry experience, Regularly informed of the main power distribution equipment operating status will enhance the user side of the power supply reliability to a certain extent. With national networking technology matures and successfully applied to transportation, medical care, clothing, tobacco, logistics and other industries provides a new way of thinking for domestic power enterprises to do the work of distribution inspection. This paper begins with the State Grid Corporatin SG186GIS platform extension project of Gansu Electric Power Company in2011as background. Through the relevant work of the author’s participation in this project, put forword in the current power grid operation environment, using radio frequency (RFID) technology and geographic information systems technology (GIS) what widespread use of the Internet of Things in distribution inspection. Construct intelligent information platform of distribution. And to explain and demonstrate the active role in regular informed of the operation of important device in distribution, improving the lack of persons, the difficult of division of responsibility area, supervison and management, standardize operation, data processing, performance of inspection and efficiency of repairs. Thus enhance the distribution reliability, reduce distribution outage occurs.
