Geographical And Cultural Characteristics Embodied In The City Leisure Square Landscape Design

Nowadays, with the accelerating of urbanization and population expanding, urban landscape is changing with each passing day. More and more urban public square is emerging, which has changed the outlook of each city as well as citizens’ living environment and lifestyle. However, urban public square in each different city looks all the same, like cloned cells, which is tedious and boring. Thus, cities in China are losing their unique features with the disappearance of regional cultural characteristics. This paper aims to discuss how regional cultures reflect the cultural differences between different cities in aspect of the urban public square design, and provide referential basis for urban public square plan.In modern societies with globalization of culture and economy, it is necessary to inherit and carry forward traditional cultures and promote national native language application in modern design. A lot of different factors have influence on that process, including technology, society, culture, history and customs, which is ultimately reflected in people’s understanding of the concepts of landscape. That process will affect people’s understanding of landscape architecture and will change as time going.With that background, to begin with, I will collect, sort and refine the regional cultural materials by research and site visiting, combining with the regional culture development. And then, convert regional cultural factors to symbol design by using innovation methods. Finally, apply symbol design into landscape architecture. Summarize design methods which may reflect the culture of regional landscape architecture, providing people with visual aesthetic. Meanwhile, to show people the overall impression of the city in aspects of city’s historic contect and humanities.
