With the rapid development of the automotive industry, automobile axles is alsodeveloping rapidly. However, the domestic industry axle product quality problemsstill exist, while foreign similar products are quite better. How to improve the qualityof axle products has become a technical difficulty. In this context, this paperintroduces FMEA method for detailed analysis of automobile axles, to improveproduct quality effectively.There is little FMEA analysis of heavy truck axle in Chinese automobileindustry, but also because of axle structure’s complexity and particularity, its FMEAanalysis for the structural design and improvement of axles are quite important.First, introduced the basic principles of FMEA analysis of the current situationand development of China’s automobile axle.Second, FMEA analysis was done for485D1driven bridge. The drive axle is divided into four subsystems, and thenanalyzed the common failure modes and their causes of each subsystem. Combinedwith field research and computer-aided FMEA enterprise software, axle FMEAanalysis reports was draw.Third, designed and implemented FMEA assistedsimulation software.This software was designed for three layers. Through needsanalysis and specific design principles, this paper built a database system of FMEAanalysis, business logic layer and user-friendly interface. FMEA project creationsoftware can automatically calculate value at risk, reports and other data exportfunctions to facilitate the subsequent FMEA analysis.Finally, for axle fracture of485D1, the main drive axle failure mode analysis was done to identify the main causeof axle fracture, and to take corrective action.Based on the drive axle FMEA analysis, the detailed analysis report for the driveaxle to improve production technology provides a lot for practice. Meanwhile, thedevelopment of the FMEA assistive software also helps the product FMEA analysis.Finally, further study of the axle fracture failure modes, gives the solution of practicalmatters.
