With the processing of urbanization, urban disease accompanied by the pace of the rapid development of urbanization. Lacking of scientific and comprehensive urban planning, urban sustainable development come across so much problems. Geographic information technology blossoms by leaps and bounds in recent years, in effectively improve the work efficiency for the practitioners in related field, at the same time, it appears as a service in our daily life, improve people’s comprehensive perception of the city, promote the development of public participation in urban management and urban planning. With the application of geographic information technology deepening, two-dimensional geographic information which abstract graphic in city development from relative walks of life gradually cannot satisfy the user’s demand for real visualization and stereo perception corresponding business, full of stereo feeling of the space, three-dimensional geographic information gradually get the favour.3D geographic information avoids2D graphics in a complex environment to bring thinking limitations and one-sidedness. With real geometry and texture information, the urban3D models meet the requirements of user’s visualization demand, and can provide scientific basis for the analysis of urban planning.This article using laser point cloud data and topography data to get the real geometry information of3D model, using the combination of digital orthophoto map, field collecting photos and street view data model to obtain the real texture information, providing3D data as a basis for urban planning. Based on the related theories and methods of city planning, and related theory, city design elements, the basic method and the design content etc. Use3D models to have3D measurements, sunshine analysis, visibility analysis and height control analysis of urban planning in urban planning phase. Through the experiment of3D modelling in the area with0.36km2in Zhengzhou city, we concluded that it is capable to use in urban planning analysis.
