Universal Value Based On The Process Of Urban Planning Methods

The author of this Master'thesis reviewed most urban planning methods and discovered that all the urban planning activity could be represented to a general modality: follow the widespread principle, accomplish the expected aim in city by rational method. It seems that almost all the urban planning theories service for the general modality and was developed from it, as theory was born in practice and then be the guidance. By reviewing the governing principle of main cities, the author found the core of an urban planning theory was a basic principle, cause a general urban planning theoretical frame would turn to a basic one while"general principle"was defined to be a "Universal value".After clear the relationships among the principle, objective and method in the urban planning theory, it argues that a kind of just basic-principle was needed in current urban planning theory. While got the explicit modality of the basic principle we are needed, the thesis discussed some concepts, such as just environment, just theme and concept, formal justice and so on. And then we found that we have to reach an agreement if we want to search out a general accepted conception of justice, and the content of the agreement would be closely related to the primary postural definition. Here we intimate borrowed the talented invention of Doctor John Rawls, which put ignorant act as the primary postural. The author discussed the needed just principle, of which specific content be defined as universal value, by the methods of introspection and balance, also in the principle of max&min value.Searching for methods began with the explicit idea that universal value is the basic principle for urban planning. The author still insists the comprehensive and rational concept, and deem the various kinds of factors in the whole planning space to some independent procedures, which bond together through the connections with humam beings. This urban planning method under the concept was defined as a method based on procedure. The knowlege on procedure was divided to three levels:the basic knowledge about the procedure itself; the basic knowledge about the relation between procedure and activity of project; the basic knowledge about procedure and human perception. The great of this method lays on the acknowledge of procedure, which means to complete the knowledge of the three levels.With the sufficient preparation of theory, the author offers the general modality of urban planning method based on procedure under the universal value. And clear the usage steps of the method, which successively are explicit object, project generate, evaluate and feedback. Thereinto the stage of project generate would be divided to seven steps: demarcation of planning scope of time and space; recognition of the independent procedure in the planning scope of time and space; establish matrix model of procedure; establish the modal of procedures affected by the urban planning activity; establish the affection model of procedure and human perception; affection model of perception and activity; and generate the palnning scheme.By striving with this thesis, the author established a basis theory of urban planning, actually finished the exploration of basic principle, which is the universal value, by the method of logic analysis; and also finished the establishment of the urban planning method based on procedure in the form of mathematical analysis.
