With the development of China’s marine industry and the increase of ships, the maritime emergency search and rescue information are massive, which needs an efficient spatio-temporal data management technology and The three-Dimensional GIS to display the spatial location information of ships at the different time. It brings new opportunities for the efficient simulation application services of the massive maritime emergency search and rescue information visualization, that the traveling trajectories of ships around the world and the rapid development of the global simulation technology including Three-Dimensional GIS.This paper relies on the sub-project of the National Science and Technology Support Project--Heterogeneous Mass of Maritime Search and Rescue Information Fusion Technology. It is studied the data management and visualization of ships’trajectories, and the featured works which are reached as followed:(1) The master thesis analyzes the characteristics of the global ship track data, which are moving and massive. As a result, the spatio-temporal cube models are established for the ship objects, that is to say the effective spatio-temporal management of the basic information of ships, AIS (Automatic Identification System) and VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) information is proposed.(2) It is considered that the characteristic that the AIS information and VTS information data both are divided into the history data and real-time data, the improved3DR-Tree spatio-temporal index structure which optimizes the shortcoming of traditional3DR-Tree that only indexes historical data is introduced. It has two trees. One is used to index the real-time data and the other one is used to index historical data. When inserting a new record to the history tree, the optimization model with optimal insertion path algorithm is used to improve the efficiency of the historical data index. Combined with the index structure, the spatio-temporal query of the ship track is established.(3) After the efficient management of the massive spatio-temporal data above, the methods and the technology which how to visualize the queried historical and real-time position information on the Three-Dimensional GIS digital earth is discussed.(4) It achieves the functions through the Maritime Emergency Search and Rescue Information Searching Platform. As a result, the ship information data are queried efficiently, and visualized to the global environment rapidly, which provide the scientific and efficient decision support for the maritime emergency.
