Modular Design Of Engineering Ship Based On Foran

This paper carries out the relevant research about the modular shipbuilding, based onone36m engineering vessel produced by Zhenjiang shipyard. More and more engineeringvessels are required after the standards put forward by IMO(International MaritimeOrganization) about ship towing in port. The36m tug from Zhenjiang shipyard is designedaccording to this requirement. This paper studies the fast design methods about this shiptype using modular shipbuilding way.The contents of the research in this paper includes:1. Pointing out the problems in modular shipbuilding and finding the answersaccording to the shipbuilding mode theory combined with the current situation. In the endstudying the relationship between modular shipbuilding and shipbuilding mode in future.2. Showing the whole design process of the36m engineering vessel in Foran.(1) Conducting the overall design and smoothing the hull curves in Foran(2) Conducting the structural design in Foran(3) Conducting the outfitting and pipe design in Foran3. Taking research on the modular shipbuilding after finishing the ship design.(1) Ship parts coding based on modular methods(2) Ship structural design based on modular methods(3) Ship outfitting design based on modular methods(4) Prospective sectional design based on modular methodsThe research shows that with Foran we can achieve the rapid ship modeling. Thismethod can guide the overall design based on modular building, improve the efficiency andshorten the cycle of the shipbuilding. Therefore the shipyard can relieve the huge pressurewith this method. Besides, this method can be taken as a reference in modular shipbuildingof all other ships.
