Urban Form Optimization Of Yanan City

Urban morphology is a materialized reflection of intrinsic factors of urban society,economy, and culture and so on. It is the result of multiple factors working together, forexample, urban culture, functions, development, and human intervention and so on. Urbanmorphology determines urban functions and is also the prime influencing factor of sustainableurban development. Therefore, adjustment, improvement and optimization of urbanmorphology are the prime problem that urban design faces. Yan’an city developed along theriverway to form a “long front, less position” linear shape pattern due to the restriction ofnatural conditions. With the expansion of the city, the city contradiction became increasinglyoutstanding, such as heavy traffic, construction-intensive, environmental deterioration,incomplete functions, enormous pressure of site protection. It showed that this kind of urbanmorphology has no capacity for sustainable development and need to be adjusted andoptimized fundamentally.Based on analyzing and demonstrating the characteristics of Yan’an urban morphology, thispaper proposes the method to optimize Yan’an city morphology by studying relevant theoryand cases and exploring the evolution, structure, influencing factors and basic types of urbanmorphology. This paper includes five parts:Firstly, clarify research background, scope, content, framework, purpose and meaning andanalyze relevant concepts.Secondly, summarize domestic and foreign theories to support urban morphologyoptimization theoretically. Then analyze, demonstrate and learn relevant cases.Thirdly, construct the basic theoretical system of urban morphology by analyzing anddemonstrating the evolution, structure, influencing factors and basic type of urbanmorphology.Once again, the status analysis of morphological traits in Yan’an city, demonstration,summarize, and lay the foundation for further optimization work.Finally, based on the above study, a method to optimize Yan’an urban morphology isproposed.
