Yan’an City Skyline Optimization Methods

With the idea of "putting people first", the starting point and goal of urban design are thebehavioral requirements and psychological feeling of human. As the perceivable characteristicimpression element of a city, the skyline which reflects city scenes and features by visualcognition of people has been getting more and more attention.The city skyline is more meaningful in ribbon-city for it is the linear morphology on thesky background. Yan’an is a typical ribbon-city, and its skyline morphology servers as thecore content of urban spatial morphology. With the development of the city, the skyline ofYan’an gradually lost its native features and intrinsic memories. Therefore it is need to beresearched and optimized.Based on the analysis of foreign examples of skyline and its own features, and supportedby four basic theories, this paper proposes the optimization methods of Yan’an’s skyline bydemonstrating and summarizing its present features. This paper consists of five chapters.Chapter one elaborates on the background and status quo, the objective and significance,main content and methods, and ideas and framework of skyline research.Chapter two. By analyzing the development of domestic and foreign cities and someexamples of other relevant cites, this paper summarizes the skyline features of these cities andprovides some references for the optimization methods of skyline.Chapter three. By analyzing the concept, element, classification and relevant theory ofskyline, this papersets up the theoretic foundation for analysis and optimization methods ofskyline of Yan’an.Chapter four. Based on vision theory, composition theory, dynamic organization theoryand landscape organization theory, this paper demonstrates and summarizes the present traitof skyline of Yan’an.Chapter five. Support by the summary of examples and fundamental theory, and based onthe explanation of present features, this paper raises the optimization methods of skyline ofYan’an.
