Design And Implementation Of Software-Defined Spectrum Analyzer

Along with the continuous improvement of mobile communication industry, thenumber of mobile intelligent terminal users also increased. This situation hasaccelerated the development of Chinese mobile network and internet. Besides, therequirements on wireless network were stricter than before, especially on signalquality and network rate. The spectrum resource in the world was in scarcity whilethe utilization rate of this kind of resource was very low. These problems haverestricted the improvement of services and applications of mobile communication. Atpresent, software radio technology could largely release the great pressures onspectrum resource. The main method it used was to increase the utilization rate ofspectrum resource. Used the software radio technology to sense the spectrum anddetected out the available spectrum resource and then reused it. In this way, theutilization rate could be increased. Spectrum analyzer could be used for spectrumsensing and it has been a common tool in fields like communication, navigation,manufacture, and examination and so on. Together with the improvement ofmeasuring technique, the spectrum analyzer also has been advanced a lot. In thisthesis, it has developed a method to design and implement the software spectrumanalyzer on the platform of general software radio. Thus, it could reduce the researchand development costs of the spectrum analyzer, shorten its production cycle as wellas advance its function flexibility and expandability, so that the upgrade andmaintenance of it would be easier.The task of this thesis was to design and implement software spectrum analyzeron the basis of GNU Radio and USRP. Firstly, this thesis has made a briefintroduction to the overseas and domestic research status on the spectrum analyzerand software radio technology; secondly, it has made a study on the operatingprinciple of spectrum analyzer and the theory of software radio technology. At thesame time, it has also introduced software radio platform which formed by GNURadio and USRP; at last, it has designed the radio frequency hardware daughterboardand implemented the function of software module of the spectrum analyzer on software radio platform. The result of the experiment indicated that the softwarespectrum analyzer could accurately analyze the frequency spectrum, which has agood practical value on spectrum sensing.
