In the pipeline production process of modern manufacturing, assembly is the last link inthe production chain, with complex tasks and heavy workload. The balance of the assemblyline has a direct impact on the efficiency of the whole production line. After the optimization,an assembly line can reach a situation of basic balance and each workstation is able to worksynchronously, thus cutting down the production takt, reducing the costs, increasing the yieldsand improving the comprehensive competitiveness of company. Therefore, we should studyand find universal models and methods to solve the the assembly line balancing problem,which has an important effect on the optimization of the assembly line management and theproduction efficiency.In this paper, the strain is modeling and solving of the assembly line balancing problem.Firstly, introduce the research background, significance and status at home and abroad, thenthe basic concept, related terms and classification of the assembly line. The paper alsointroduces two methods Lingo and genetic algorithms to solve the optimization problemssystematically, which can provide reference for solving other optimization problems onprojects.This thesis is mainly focused on two types of assembly line balancing problem. Build amathematical model, then solve the model with Lingo and genetic algorithms, and finallywrite the general optimization program. Finally, take the axle assembly line balancingproblem for example, and solve the simple and complex assembly line balancing problemwith optimization program of Lingo and genetic algorithms. The results shows that thegeneral optimization program of Lingo and genetic algorithms can solve the uncomplicatedassembly line balancing problem quickly and efficiently. As to the complex assembly linebalancing problem, it can be converted to simple type.
