Signalized intersection is one important node of city traffic system, can most reflect thecharacteristics of urban mixed traffic in our country. A large number of motor vehicles,non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians poor into intersections, making intersections becomea gathering place for traffic conflicts. Conflict between pedestrians and vehicles is gettingworse, which not only reduces the efficiency of traffic intersection, resulting in delays and anincrease in accidents, but also affect the safety level of the entire traffic system. Pedestriansare the vulnerable groups in traffic, and their traffic behavior have great randomness, so, theyare more vulnerable to injury. Through the methods of manual observation and videocapture to investigate data, this paper study on traffic characteristics of pedestrains atsignalized intersection, and analyze pedestrian walking speed characteristics, pedestrianarriving rule and the characteristics of pedestrian-vehicle confliction.From the aspects of walking speed, demand space, critical time, waiting time can betolerated, the patterns of behavior and the psychological characteristics of pedestrian trafficcharacteristics are analyzed and reviewed in this paper. Compare and evaluate several kinds ofpedestrian traffic microscopic simulation model.Through the measured data to analyze pedestrian walking speed, conclude thedistribution parameters of pedestrian walking speed, and analyze the influencing factors ofpedestrian walking speed. The results show that when gender and age are different, there aredifferences between the pedestrian walking speed. The number of pedestrians crossing thestreet together also have an effect on the pedestrian walking speed. Analysing pedestriansarriving rule, using the discrete distribution of mathematical statistics to fit and verifie, theresult shoes that pedestrian arriving rule comfort to negative binomial distribution model.By analyzing the conflict types and the reasons of pedestrians-vehicles conflict,establish the acceptable gap model when pedestrian crossing the motor traffic which is basedon the binary Logistic regression model. Analysing delays of pedestrians caused by conflict,using the VISSIM to simulate the conflict between pedestrians and motor vehicles.
