Regional Expression Of Library Building

The crises of vanish of the cultural diversity and regional characteristics，which is causedby the global spread of international style architectures, are making people reconsidering thevalues of the cultural diversity and regional characteristics. Appealing for the regionalregression，how to recover the regional features comprehensively and systematically is theresearch focus at home and abroad. So this thesis differentiates and analyses the regionalexpressions of architectures in terms of library buildings.Regionalism is the gene of buildings, deriving from the regional environment, which is afusion of different environmental systems, including natural system, cultural system, socialsystem and the like. And the different environment systems within the same regionalenvironment give architectures various expressions of "equipotential" genes and regional genes.Additionally, different kinds of buildings show different expression groups and forms ofrecessive and dominant genes. Library buildings, as an important part of relics and museologyarchitecture, play an irreplaceable role and take important responsibilities in regional structure.The regional gene expressions of library buildings are different from the ones of the other relicsand museology architectures, according to its special social functions.In view of the special social functions of library buildings, this thesis studies theperspectives, contents, and features of the regional gene expressions of library buildings, basingon the theory of "gene expressions". With the research into present situation of regional designsof library and the analysis of distinguished cases of that, it summarizes the normal expressivemethods and the design tendency of regional library buildings. Combined with the architecturelanguage features, it sums up the "words" and "grammar" of regional expressions of librarybuildings, and finds out the methods and steps of that.Finally, using the library of ChongQing as the sample, it verifies the principles, methodsand steps which are suitable for the regional expressions of library buildings, and explores thereal connotation and design ways of that.
