Orchidaceous plants had attracted numerous of Chinese and foreign personagesfrom all circles, as its characteristics of appreciative, medical, cultural and scientific.There are75species Orchidaceous plants, belonging to34genus in JinggangMountain nature reserve, which can be divided into3major types, terrestrial orchid,epiphytic orchid and saprophytic orchid.. Wumachaotian was newly developed scenicspots in1999, located in3kilometers south of Ciping town, exhibited fivevagarious peaks, steep cliff, magnificent landform, superb scenery resembles fivehorses standing with heads held high, and rich primeval secondary forest,varied and bizarre waterfalls, meanders and secluded reds trail, quaint old stonebridge, elegance colonnade, etc., notwithstanding visitors were extremely rare. Theorchid gardens was established according to the biological characteristics of orchid,basis on making full use of established spots and infrastructure in Wumachaotian, andthe wild orchids were introduced from Jinggang Mountain. The orchid gardens couldbe used to construct the environment in accord with the physical and ecologicalrequirements of orchids, to protect orchid germplasm resources, carry out orchidpopular science education, transmit cultural of orchid and enrich tourism resources ofJinggang Mountain scenic resort.Through analyzing the current situation and development of specialized gardenplants at home and abroad, technical methods was summarized on the basic analysesregarding to landform, environmental status, vegetagion community structure, growthand ornamental characters of wild orchids, historical and cultural situations, status offundamental facilities, through via field investigation, photographing and sampling inWumachaotian scenic spot. The basic theories and methods of planning and designswas presented, according to the relevant norms, standards and relevant documentsenacted by the government, follow the principle that the distribution of the orchidstrictly limited by climate and geographical environment, respecting for the existingnatural scenery and artificial landscape, protecting the integrity of the ecosystem. Some high quality landscape nodes such as reds trail, WuMa waterfalls werepreserved, while the southern entrance was modified and Xunyou orchid centre andTanyan orchid centre was designed. There were four regions in the central area of thescenic spot, including resort area of enjoy orchid posture, resort area of smell orchidfragrance, resort area of chew to orchid mellow and showplace of orchid culture,through using techniques such as stone with orchid, landscape architecture articleswith orchid, construction of revetment and plants landscape, etc. The theme of orchidgarden was expressed in the design, making Wumachaotian orchid garden withregional characteristics integrates collection and protection of orchid germplasmresources, natural ecology, scientific research, popular science education, displayorchid culture and entertainment.
