Rehabilitation, Renovation And Reuse Study Of Traditional Residences In Shengli Historic Area, Tongcheng City

Traditional Residences are widely distributed in the historical and cultural cities,districts, and villages. It is a valuable topic that, how to make full use of traditionalresidences in dwelling, commerce, culture, and at the same time, make sure that, theyare well protected. Therefore, this thesis chose Shengli historic area in Tongcheng cityas the case, to explore how to achieve effective protection of traditional houses andutilization, using planning and designing tools. Three levels are included in this study:protection and reuse strategies of traditional residences, means to solve the problems thetraditional residences facing and classification method, research design.First, proposed principles to be followed, based on analysis of the characteristics oftraditional residences. Then presented the planning strategies, profited from andsummarizes the domestic and foreign experiences. Victory Street TraditionalArchitecture should be classified, in considering the architectural value, buildingprotection may not match actual demand based on a reasonable plan given buildingcategory and give full play to planning and design in architectural conservation andtransformation of the guiding role.Secondly, research the problems the traditional residences facing and their defects,as well as the possibilities using them in commercial purpose. Atfer that, proposed themethod and strategies to rehabilitation，renovation and reuse the traditional residences.Upon the above research, select five courtyards to do the research design. Thesecourtyard cover three types. In the design examples, the cultural relics protection unitare well protected and reused. For historical building and houses maintain traditionalfeatures, properly protection and rational rehabilitation to meet the actual needs ofproduction and life are considered.
