Historic cities in our country have survived the acute renewal movement over 20 years and now reach a new epoch, when the whole society pay more attention to regenerate the historic heritage and shape the city cultural environment. Those mean the historic heritage are being friendly and closely with the daily life. Under the circumstances, on one hand, the reuse of the historic building should be based on the economy, the policy, the culture and the technology of the whole city. On the other hand, historic buildings are always keeping regeneration by adjusting itself to the surrounding without losing its historical and cultural characters. Thus accelerate the improvement of itself and the city.The research focuses on Ningbo city and its outstanding cases of conservation and regeneration. The real project of reusing historic buildings is an experimental unit of"Yuehu Historic District". The purpose of the project is to illustrate some attitude, thought and method toward the historic heritage during the new historic context.There are about 65 thousands Chinese words, with more than 80 illustrations and 22 tables in the thesis.
