The Study On The Jinzhou Provincial Administrative Center Square Design Project

The look of Chinese cities has changed a lot in30years of reform and opening-up.With the increasing expansion of city scale and space, the administrative center welcomesan unprecedented upsurge of construction. As an important architectural type, the structureand performance of outer space environment of the administrative centers will greatly affectthe overall development of the urban space, from which it can be seen that administrativecenters are dominated in urban space and play a pivotal role. Therefore, as an importantspatial pattern, administrative center square attracts more and more attention.Based on the analysis on the historical development and evolution processes ofChinese and western administrative centers, this article points out that the outer space ofmodern administrative centers gradually develops from close to open, from authoritarianismto democracy, from management to service. But there are still many problems in actualconstruction. For instance, emphasize the design of the architecture excessively; theadministrative center square lacks a sense of place due to the large scale; lack the deepunderstanding and application in humanistic size; lack the overall grasp of the urban space.This paper discusses theoretical definition, components, construction methods of the outerspace of the administrative centers, and points out that the space origins from theparticipation and experience of the people. What’s more, this article puts forward theprinciples and method which we should comply with in the present design through theanalysis on the existing problems of the outer space of present domestic administrativecenters and points out a good administrative center square space is a spatial pattern wherepeople are willing to stay and participate, and is a place where people take exercise.Through the study on the Jinzhou provincial administrative center square designproject, this article illustrates the possibility that it will inherit the native culture in thedesign of modern government square, tries to find out and summarizes the traditionallanguage and method which can be used in the domestic government square design. Finally,in accordance with the practice of landscape design project of Jinzhou provincial administrative center, this article hopes that the domestic designers will design modernurban government square space with the contemporary characteristics, native culturebackground and traditional aesthetic idea, and that references can be provided for othersimilar design projects on the basis of the study on the government square design theory andpractice.
