| The climate change caused by increase of greenhouse gas emissions has become an important factor which restricts the sustainable development of economic and society. As the absolute main source of greenhouse gas emissions, city plays an important role in addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Control of greenhouse gas emissions and promotion of low-carbon city development have become the consensus of the whole society.The establishment of greenhouse gas inventory, which is the foundation of low-carbon economy development, is conductive to master the greenhouse gas emissions and characteristics in urban areas accurately and track the emission trends. The results are expected to provide data support when decomposing and checking the reduction targets, and promote the low-carbon development of the city. The establishment of urban greenhouse gas inventory in China is undergoing the transformation from research to application while some scholars try to establish the greenhouse gas inventory in cities like Beijing and Shanghai. The 《"Twelfth Five-Year" Work Plan for Greenhouse Gas Emission Control in Jinan》 issued in 2013, proposed the targets for reducing greenhouse gases and developing low-carbon industrial system. However, the lack of a detailed and comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory in Jinan against the formulation of specific reduction policies and measures. With research on systems and methods of the establishment of greenhouse gas inventory at home and abroad, the thesis establishes greenhouse gas inventory in Jinan. This inventory provides a basic data support for the low-carbon development of Jinan. This thesis includes mainly the following areas:(1)Summary of establishment systems and methods of greenhouse gas inventoryWith the economic development and population growth, the urban greenhouse gas emissions have aroused widespread attentions from international community. In recent years, even appeared some organizations and agencies which specialize in the greenhouse gas inventory. After research on extensive literature review and some typical empirical cases, this study summaries the mainstream systems and methods to establish a greenhouse gas inventory. These conclusions offer a certain reference to the similar projects in other cities and areas.(2) The compilation of greenhouse gas inventory in JinanConsidering the social economic development of Jinan, this screens out the main carbon sources and sinks, including industrial energy consumption, biomass burning, transportation, industrial production process, agricultural activities, waste disposal, land use change and forestry. In this study, CO2, CH4 and N2O emissions in Jinan from 2001 to 2012 are calculated. The results show that greenhouse gas emissions have increased in these years with an annual rate of 10.10%. CO2 is the most important greenhouse gas in Jinan, accounting for about 94% of the total emissions. The major CO2 emission sources are industrial energy consumption, transportation, industrial production process and biomass burning. The proportion of CH4 declined year by year, especially in 2007. N2O emissions account for the smallest proportion, mainly affected by waste management, agricultural activities and transportation.(3) The problems faced by the establishing of greenhouse gas emissions inventory and the improvement suggestionsThere are still some problems in the process of compiling a urban-scale greenhouse gas inventory, for example, the current statistical system can’t meet the requirements of inventory, the absence of localization activity data, and the insufficient willingness and understanding of managers in compiling a greenhouse gas inventory. According to the problems faced by the process of compiling a greenhouse gas inventory and the current emission situation in Jinan, this thesis put forward some improvements of establishing a greenhouse gas emissions inventory. Furthermore, this paper concludes the corresponding reduction suggestions for Jinan. |
