According to the demands of development and reuse the land in reclamation area of coal mine, construction of rural ecological civilization and beautiful countryside, innovation of resettle rural settlements, the optimization for the production, living and ecological space(abbreviated as PLE space) based on human settlements in reclamation area of coal mine was carried. On the macro-level, the study coordinates the layout of PLE space in accordance with different fuctions, and combines with the factor of affect rural settlements distribution to determine the factor, witch affect the PLE space distribution. On the intermediate level, the study defines the class of these factors, using distribution index and information entropy to analyze the distribution characteristics of PLE space in different condition of factors. On the micro-level, in order to achieve the sustainable development of PLE space in reclamation area of coal mine, optimization have been obtained by factor filtering and spatial overlay analysis, and analyzes the zoning for PLE space of optimization from development, utilization and protection angle. The research has theoretical significance to improve the optimization system of human settlements, and has practical significance to explore methods for PLE space optimization, and has positive effect to recycle damage land.The main conclusions of the study are as the main points of view:(1) Summarize the theoretical system of the reconstruction of the human settlements in the mining reclamation area. Through AVC of the rural settlement landscape, the PLE space synergistic relationships is been created, according to the relationship between society, economy, environment and attraction, vitality and bearing capacity of rural settlement landscape.(2) The basic life security of relocation and resettlement of the villagers is temporary in pingshuo mine. Although the investigation results show that peasants’ living standards have improved in a short period, relying on a mono-industrial to solve the peasant problem is more difficult, with the downturn in the coal industry.(3) The PLE space distribution is affected by the same factors in different degrees in Pingshuo mining area. The main influence factors are altitude, slope, aspect, topographic relief, river network and traffic. In addition, production space distribution is strongly influenced by slope and topographic relief, traffic has been the biggest influence on living space, there is a link between the production space and the living space through the farming radius.(4) Centralization of the PLE space distribution in reclamation area of coal mine. Production space performance as concentrated distribution, living space dispersed clustered arrangement and the ecological space scatter as mesh.(5) The production, living and ecological space proportion of the total area is 47.70%、2.92% and 49.38% respectively in reclamation areas. The production space is mainly used as general farming area, the living space is characterized by mixed development zones, and ecological space is mainly a moderate sensitive area.
