In the nowadays, Large-scale chemical plant is an important trend in the development of the world’s chemical industry which has significant economic advantages. In order to achieve plant to large-scale it must realize the core pressure vessel come into being large-scale firstly. The reactor styrene, xylene tower, water-cooled methanol reactor as the representative of a series of pressure vessel are usually accompanied by high temperature and large pressure, flammable, toxic and other highly corrosive conditions, characterized by special material, complex structure, technically demanding, expensive, non-standard part of the long-period special equipment. These large equipment either in operating costs, or in terms of design, manufacturing and others aspects have great difficulty, risk factors, therefore, in the construction process it must strengthen risk management of key links including operating cost, design and manufacturing.Large-scale chemical plant core pressure vessel construction project risk control, belongs to the project risk management areas. From the perspective of equipment builders, firstly, From the basic concept of project risk management and the basic theory research, combined with the China’s equipment manufacturing industry status and the large non-standard pressure vessel equipment features, disassembling the whole process of the construction of the pressure vessel; then, utilizing Expert Survey and Analytic Hierarchy Processon(AHP) on the impact in five aspects of construction equipment operating cost, design, quality, schedule, HSE and thereafter identify risk factors, analysis, evaluation and formulate risk response measures; Finally, Based on water-cooled reactor construct project series of activities, to carry out practice and application for the whole process of project risk management, forming a pressure vessel construction risk management countermeasures table eventually.In this paper, with the aid of water-cooled methanol reactor pressure vessel construction activities to carry out the large chemical plant core equipment construction project risk management research, the analysis process and the final formation of the risk countermeasures table has certain reference significance for enhancing risk control in the process of pressure vessel construction projects and giving full play to the economic and social benefit of project, Preliminary formes a set of pressure vessel construction project risk management theory which can be used to guide the large chemical plant core pressure vessel construction activities.
