Over the past 10 years, Panzhihua Titanium Concentrater made some achievements through the efficient recycling ilmenite technology and equipment research, and improved the ilmenite recovery. But in general, its ilmenite process always have some problems of low recovery, process complexity and high cost. How to improve the resource usage effectively can bring significant economic benefits for the Panzhihua Group.In the titanium concentrator of Pangang group company,it did not continue to be recycled for the tailings that carried scavenging after second paragraph of magnetic, it is directly discharged into the tailing pond. This part of the tailings grade titanium is about 6%,its emissions amounted to 900 tons per day,caused a great waste of resources.In this paper, its research object is the tailings that carried scavenging after second stage of magnetic in the first eight series, carried out process researches, including atomic spectroscopy, chemical multi-element analysis, titanium mineral phase analysis and particle size analysis. Process Mineralogy study shows:the ilmenite grade is too low, only 5.21%. The titanium mineral distributed concentration relatively, and most of it exist in ilmenite, followed titanomagnetite. Fine-grained titanium minerals, low levels of coarse-grade monomer dissociation.Conducted a detailed study of titanium recovery process by the nature of ore. It’s using a magnetic rougher tailing, magnetic concentrate into reselection process after grinding. The study includes:magnetic roughing probe test 、 grinding fineness test、 parameters test and the times of selection required test, tests showed that only need to secondary selection can obtain a satisfactory of titanium concentrate. When the process parameters of the device are the best time, use hang vibrate of cone concentrator resulting titanium concentrate grade of 42.37%, and the recovery was 43.01%. The titanium concentrate need to remove sulfur by flotation, resulting concentrate grade of 23.52% S, the recovery rate of 89.80%;flotation tailings grade of 0.16% of the sulfur, instructions effectively removes, showed the effective removal of sulfur. Closed-circuit test was carried out on the basis of preliminary open-circuit test’results, obtain grade 44.23%,45.85% recovery of titanium concentrate finally.
