With the rapid development of the economy in China, the domestic transaction expands tremendously and quickly thus the movement of the material broadens in depth accordingly. This calls for a higher demand on the efficiency of the logistics activities, ability for a quick response and the information integration. Domestic express acts as a prompt door to door logistic service, it becomes one of the indispensable logistic service in such commercial circumstance. The efficiency is highly required; the characteristics of customization and diversity in domestic express are increasingly obvious. In an effort to adapt themselves to the changes of the domestic express market and increase their ability to compete, domestic express enterprises need to continuously innovate and optimize the business mode, to keep abreast of the market demand effectively and to develop new services to achieve higher efficiency. This thesis covers six chapters through which it explores and demonstrates how Sinotrans Development optimizes the business mode of domestic express.The first chapter is focused on the analysis of the current situations of Sinotrans Development so as to dig out the issues which must be solved and the challenges existing. It explains the necessity to adjust strategy in Sinotrans Development. It definitely illuminates the importance of the domestic express business during the adjustment of strategy in Sinotrans Development. At the end of this chapter, it elaborates the focal points of this thesis and the objective of this study. The second chapter is emphasized in the recognition and comprehension of the demand characteristics of the modern logistics under the supply chain environment through the study of the theories of Third Party Logistics and Supply Chain Management. It’s aimed at providing solid basis of theory on how Sinotrans Development develops its domestic express business.The third, fourth and fifth chapters are the core sections in the thesis. These chapters, with the guidance of the theory of modern logistics and supply chain management, analyze Sinotran Developmnet’s the existing issues via the research statistics, case study & mathematics model and explore how to optimize the current operation mode. It includes the following seven subjects:the macroscopical environment of domestic express, market demand analysis, characteristic of the marketing, customers analysis , major competitors analysis, the optimization of the aerial route in domestic express, the evaluation and the selection of the providers of pickup and delivery of domestic express businessThe last chapter is the conclusion of this thesis where some comments and experience through this study is presented. At the same time, it points out other outstanding subjects which needs to be explored.The target of this study is to put forward a feasible optimaztion proposals for the decision-makers in Sinotrans Development in the near future and metaphase so to solve the problems encountering during the development of the domestic express business. The subject has a practical meaning.
