Agricultural Trade Between China And America

Our agricultural products trade began to enter a really new period since we joinedthe WTO. Agricultural products’import，export and total amount of trade had risensubstantially. But still there exist some problems and constraints. As a developedcountry，America’s agriculture gains advantages over abundant resources，advancedtechnology and political support from government. These advantages make America avery strong country in terms of agricultural production and agricultural products exportin the world. Comparing China’s development of agricultural products trade andcompetitiveness of agricultural products with America’s and making reference toAmerica’s successful experience on agricultural products trade are of importantsignificance for China to boost agricultural products’competitiveness and agriculturalproducts trade’s development.To begin with，this paper analysed agricultural resources and agriculturaldevelopment both in China and America according to international trade theory，on thisbasis the paper compared China’s trade scale，trade balance，commodity structure andmarket structure of agricultural products with America in detail，and the papercompared China’s international competitiveness of agricultural products with Americaby means of calculating indices like market share，the degree of trade dependence andRCA index，then the paper compared influences like resources，technology and policieson the development of agriculture and agricultural products trade in China with that inAmerica，finally the paper proposed some countermeasures and suggestions for thedevelopment of agricultural products trade in our nation.
